The Environmental Commission serves as a voice for environmental concerns within our town. The commission strives to raise awareness and implement initiatives that protect our natural resources and enhance the overall quality of life in the Town of Union. From advocating for green spaces and open lands to promoting energy efficiency and waste reduction, the commission focuses on a broad range of environmental issues.
Grant from Nyserta for LED lighting project in the town.
Passed local law and filed with NYS to be a true tree city.
To be considered for Tree City USA, municipalities must establish a tree board, pass a local tree ordinance, devote $2 per capita to caring for trees and host an annual Arbor Day event.
Secured a $110,000 grant to update the comprehensive Town Plan in over 15 years.
NYS’ Smart Growth Comprehensive Planning grant program allows the Town to create a sustainable, resilient, and forward-looking plan to guide growth and development in the Town of Union over the next 20 years.
20 mil invested in major Town infrastructure improvements 20 new pumping stations etc.
365,000 grant (annual) from HUD to improve and revitalize housing in the Town of Union
50,000 grant to upgrade the Heating and cooling systems in the UVES headquarters
Led lighting project in Town buildings
Administering over 31 million dollars in APRA funds with 35 projects across the Town.
